Urbino is a walled
city in the Marche region in Italy, south-west of Pesaro, a World
Heritage Site notable for a remarkable historical legacy of
independent Renaissance culture. Urbino retains much of its
picturesque medieval. Its best-known architectural piece is the
Palazzo Ducale, rebuilt by Luciano Laurana.
The main sight of Urbino are: the Ducal Palace, begun in the
second half of the 15th century by Federico II da Montefeltro, Duomo
(Cathedral) of Urbino, the church of San Giovanni Battista, the
Oratory of San Giuseppe, botanical garden.
The frazioni of Urbino are: Ca' Mazzasette, Canavaccio,
Castelcavallino, La Torre, Mazzaferro, Pieve di Cagna, San Marino,
Schieti, Scotaneto, Trasanni. The Patron saint of Urbino is St.
Crescentinus.
